Once upon a time, there was a boy of 16

(though not quite in these photos)

When you’re a photographer’s child, you get a lot of pictures of yourself. Whether you like it or not. In this case, the shoot was thy son’s idea, and I was thrilled! In honor of his Sweet (can I say that for a boy?) Sixteen –

Family is…

My new friend Leslie drove all the way to Colorado just to see me! Or, okay, to stay with her family. Whatever. The point is, she wanted me to take photos of her youngest, her sweet little Z-Man, while she was here. And…Bonus!…one of her gorgeous daughters was with her.

Xander, in all his cuteness -

Sometimes, boys will be boys -
(We were trying to set up a shot of him handing her the flower. Instead, he preferred to do his own thing.)

Family is love: all for one, and one for all -

And it’s go go go, too. Right after the above shot, Z-Man made a run for it.

Also, when it comes to small children, when they say it’s over…it’s over!

Thank you, Leslie!

They’re going to the chapel

And you know the rest!

Months and months ago, I had the extreme pleasure to photograph two beautiful friends of mine, Autumn and Jake. They are in looooovvvveee. And with their wedding right around the corner (I’m so excited!), I realized it’s time to get their pictures on the site.

We met up in Manitou Springs and were slightly dismayed that even at 3:00, the sun had already dropped behind the mountains (well, foothills of Pikes Peak), leaving the atmosphere dark, gray and cold. Still, with these two? It’d be hard to take bad pictures. Trust me.

Young, beautiful, and in love. Awwww…

Little Man E

This past spring, E’s mom invited me over to take some shots of her little man. I was delighted to get to finally meet him. What a sweetheart of a boy! So, we merely played on the living room floor. Babies and toddlers are always a challenge, but what I love about them the most is how natural and real they are.

E’s daddy is a musician, so these are for you, Dad!

This is one of those moments where I began saying, “I will fall over backwards to get the shot for you. Literally.” E was coming right at me. The camera is a very curious item to children.

No worries. It was a momentary pouty face. E is one of the happiest toddlers I’ve met!

Finally, I got a nice little set of E trying (and sometimes succeeding) in biting his big sister’s finger. It was too cute to stop him immediately.

Just since this session, E has changed so much. Which brings me to a very important point: Capture every moment now, especially while they’re so small. They grow way too fast!

Once Upon…A Miracle Child

All children are miracles, but some are harder to get than others. Parents Josh and Shae waited for 5 long years, but Aurora was worth every second of that wait.

“While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.”

-Angela Schwindt

Shae saw an idea somewhere about doing a series of photos in larger clothing that one’s child would eventually grow into. So here we start at age one.

Aurora227blog Aurora219blog

What I love most about these shots is how mom is helping daughter. It immediately brings to mind scenes from many years later when Shae will be helping Aurora dress for prom and then…her wedding. Oh, I’m so sorry, Mom. I didn’t mean to make you think that far ahead. Or maybe what I mean is, hold on! Time flies and our babies grow way too fast.

Aurora is quite the firecracker and just too cute for words.

Little girls are full of emotion. They express it well and without apology. Wait for it…

Something I enjoy doing with all my clients is including (for their eyes only) the fun outtakes. But since this is a wee little one, she won’t mind this little collage of the cutest “outtake” faces.

Josh and Shae, thank you for allowing me into your life and for the opportunity to share your miracle.
